This activity encourages you to experience the effects of promotions in your daily life by becoming still and observing the different types of promotional activities occurring around you.  Be aware and write down all of the mediums in which you are exposed to promotional messages for a day or two. Be aware of all the possible mediums, not just the obvious ones, such as promotional messages embedded in television programs (product placement), in movies (product placements / brands mentioned by name), in video games, on your clothing, on your phone, on shopping bags, on takeout containers, etc.   Discuss: How many promotional messages were you exposed to?  Did you have the ability to choose to avoid each message (again, don't forget about the less than obvious ones).  Discuss what, if any, impact these experiences have on your perceptions and attitudes. Please take some time to think about this.
