A ‘Category 2’ construction, vertical carbon steel vessel shown has an overall length of
approximately 30m. It consists of two cylindrical shells of 2m and 1.2m inner diameters
connected by a conical transition piece. The top end is 10% torispherical with crown radius equal
to the cylinder inside diameter and the lower end closure is 2:1 semi-ellipsoidal in form.
The vessel is used for storing liquid with a specific gravity of 1.2 at a
pressure of 18 bars (1.8MPa) at a temperature of 180
oC and a lowest
temperature of -30oC. The vessel will be supported by a circular cylindrical
skirt which is welded to the vessel as shown. One 250mm diameter nozzle is
in the cylindrical shell as shown the vessel.
