In the current polarized environment that has developed in terms of political views, hostility is at an all time high, compromising the open forum that guest speakers encourage. The idea is to allow for open conversation to occur in a manner that is respectable and accepting of all view points in order to generate ways of thinking. Students have a right to not only be heard but also introduced to new and conflicting ideas in order to broaden their thinking. The issues that has arisen with the increase in guest speakers is creating a public domain that is inclusive to new and differing ideas, creating open dialogue, and not arguing based on confirmation bias.
