Why was the League of nations formed? What are some of the problems it faced? Why did it fail?

The League of Nations was formed after World War 1 in 1920. The League of nations included a council, an assembly, and a secretariat. The decision was made by the league of nations using a majority vote in the assembly. It was formed by 42 nations and included nations of Europe, South America, and Asia. The U.S was not a part of the institution. It was formed after the end of the war between Germany and Allied powers and after the Treaty of Versailles.
