Emilio Jacinto was one of the revolutionaries who were important to the founding of the organization called Katipunan in the Philippines. It was formed against the backdrop of growing discontentment with Spanish colonial rule. These revolutionaries wanted reform of the political, social, and economical sectors in the Philippines as well as envisioned an independent nation free from the shackles of the Spaniards. He was very highly ranked within the organization of Katipunan and has been called the 'brain of the revolution. He was also the person who had written the Kartilya ng Katipunan.
