nutrient are transported in soil by three major processes. which are as follows:

Mass flow : movement of matters in bulk or movement of nutrient in soil
diffusion : it is an efficient process for short distance transport.
osmosis : it involves passive transport of water,it moves through a semipermeable membrane from high to low concentration.
root interseption: It is the growth of plant root into new soil area where nutrient are present in solution.

The factors which affect the nutrient movement ions in diffusion mechanism are :
