Expert Solution
Step 1

Ribonucleic acid is a single-stranded polymeric molecule that has a backbone made up of alternating sugar i.e ribose and the phosphate group. Each sugar has 4 bases: Adenine, guanine, uracil and cytosine. RNA is essential for major biological processes like coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes.

The RNA is of many types:

mRNA- It is the messenger RNA that transfers nucleic acid information from one genome to protein through the process of translation.

tRNA-It is the transfer RNA that carries specific three-letter-coded amino acids to the translation site(ribosome) and allows them to assemble into the chain of the protein.

rRNA- It is the ribosomal RNA that binds proteins and enzymes in the cytoplasm to form ribosomes which is the site for protein synthesis.

snRNA- Small nuclear RNA in the synthesis of mature mRNA from primary RNA molecules.

Regulatory RNA- it helps in the regulation of gene expression.

tmRNA- Transfer-messenger RNA are found in bacteria and plastids that help in tagging proteins that lack stop codons for degradation.

RNA enzymes-This RNA enzymes are also called ribozymes that act as a bio- catalysts and have typical enzyme characteristics like the active site, the binding site for cofactor, and substrate.
