3. Did your predictions match your results? 4. What may have occurred to cause the difference between your predictions and results? (Hint: Look at your assumptions on pg. 65). 5. Lactase is speeding up what type of chemical reaction-hydrolysis or dehydration? How can the experiment be enhanced? What would you do differently next time? (Note: "noth- ing" is not an acceptable answer.)
Proteins
We generally tend to think of proteins only from a dietary lens, as a component of what we eat. However, they are among the most important and abundant organic macromolecules in the human body, with diverse structures and functions. Every cell contains thousands and thousands of proteins, each with specific functions. Some help in the formation of cellular membrane or walls, some help the cell to move, others act as messages or signals and flow seamlessly from one cell to another, carrying information.
Protein Expression
The method by which living organisms synthesize proteins and further modify and regulate them is called protein expression. Protein expression plays a significant role in several types of research and is highly utilized in molecular biology, biochemistry, and protein research laboratories.
I need help with general biology lab 7 on enzyme denatuation, questions 3-6 ( I will send this question 4 times because the computer will only let me send this with 2 pages, there are 8 pages total)
This is pages 7 and 8
These are the last 2 pages and the last page has questions 3-6 on it, which I need help with, thanks
Question 3 and 4:
Did your Prediction match your results? What may occurred to cause the difference?
- Lactaid has lactase enzyme, lactase acts upon lactose producing glucose and galactose. Yeast doesn't have lactase enzyme so it doesn't breakdown lactose it works upon the glucose produced and produces carbondioxide by glycolysis.
- Lactaid works best around pH 6 to 7. It can work in acidic pH of 2 to 7. Treatment 1,2 and 3 has pH of 2 to 7 so glucose is produced as a result of lactose breakdown and carbon dioxide is produced by yeast in treatment 1,2 and 3. Treatment 4 has pH 12, lactase can't work at this pH so glucose is not produced as a result carbondioxide will not be released. So the level of carbondioxide remains the same in treatment 4.
- Predictions are correct in treatment 1,2 and 3. Prediction is wrong in treatment 4.
