Hi Lashell, Thank you for your post. I agree that social workers play a crucial role in supporting clients dealing with the court system and maintaining confidentiality; it is essential to professional practice. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) provides a comprehensive Code of Ethics that guides social workers in their professional conduct. Balancing confidentiality and client needs will aid in maintaining a balance between protecting the client's confidentiality and addressing the client's needs within the legal framework. At the same time, it provides the necessary information to the court while disclosing the minimum required to fulfill legal obligations as a professional social worker (Reamer, 2005). Nevertheless, if called upon to testify in court, social workers strive to provide relevant information while avoiding unnecessary disclosures (Reamer, 2005). Social workers can focus on presenting information related to the case at hand and seek to protect the client's privacy as much as possible (Reamer, 2005).    Reference: Reamer, F. G. (2005).
