Culture Resources Presentations 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziW5JG6GTHk Social injustice in education covers a wide range of things which includes "Government Funding For Education". If there is less funding for schools then that means that there will be fewer staff members, programs, and resources for students. With big budget cuts, this has caused teachers to spend their hard working money on school supplies for their students. The average teacher spends at least $750 each year of their own hard working money. 2. https://youtu.be/OXIw22_G4jw?si=xfEW2uClW09_QOz7 School safety has been a huge issue especially when it comes to mass shootings. There have been many debates on how to keep children safe. There were ideas for adult volunteers to step in with firearms to end all threats. However, critics said that if more guns were permitted on the property then there will be more accidents and injuries happening.
3. https://www.humanrightscareers.com/issues/what-is-social-justice-in-education/ Social justice in education can take two forms which can be social justice of equality in the education system. The second form is inequality in social justice in education which is known to many as "social injustice". Students that are not so privileged and have the inability to earn a certain amount of income can cause them to lack a well deserved education. 4. https://seis.ucla.edu/news/making-the-case-for-social-justice-educators-in-americas Technology in education offers students the ability to be more active when it comes to learning. Big budget cuts have lowered the availability of technology being exposed at school. The downside is that students that come from a lower poverty background are not provided with the exposure of technical devices as students that are from middle and upper class backgrounds.

5. Catalano, D. Chase J.; Schrum, Kelly; Fay, Erin; Abbot, Sophia. History Teacher. May2023, Vol. 56 Issue 3, p367-386. 20p. , Database: Academic Search Complete Originally in the United States, public schools first originated through the spread of religious ideas. However, it has now become a stricter secular institution. Now religion has been reframed from public schools along with students openly wearing religion associated attire. School prayers have been banned from almost every public school. After watching this week's videos and reading the articles as a leader it is imperative to understand that we can be biased a lot of times unknowingly therefore, it is always vital to pay
attention to the needs of all students instead of just some. The topic of culture can help me become a better leader for my students because it allows me to better understand their upbringing and backgrounds so I can know how to interact with them. I am aware not everyone has the same upbringing and some students come from low poverty backgrounds, but they all deserve equal education regardless of how poor or rich that they are. Describe why this DEI topic about culture is important to you. Understanding one’s culture will allow me to get a chance to know my students better. Finding something that is small but relatable to them will allow me to become closer to my students while ensuring that all their needs are being met. Also, they will be able to learn how to engage in treating their peers as well. Culture needs to be recognized especially in school therefore, we are able to create a comfortable environment so that students enjoy and want to learn. Explain how this exercise of archiving relevant resources enhances your professional understanding. Achieving relevant resources ensures that the information we are getting is up to date therefore, it will remain relatable to what is going on now. It allows us to understand the different kinds of resources that are accessible such as blogs, articles, and more. It will make the process of collecting resources a much easier one. In the future I am now able to show my students how to find adequate resources as well during their research process if ever need it.
