2 Family Engagement Overview of Presentation Family Engagement The main point of family engagement is to get to know your student's family. Also, to help their students grow in the long run. Get family involved in their children's daily learning. I am all for growing, it brings me joy Monday through Friday putting smiles on little faces, and love it when they put one on mine as well. The main point is for the family to know how important family engagement is. Communication plays a big part in family engagement. It is are many ways to communicate with family one way is in person. Over the phone, virtually through Zoom, either way, will be a plus to meet. This has shaped my learning for family engagement, because I didn’t realize how important it was into. I watched the webinar and viewed the PowerPoint. I see daycares, and schools involved family engagement. That’s awesome because now I can utilize the importance of family engagement. When I start teaching. I can also use it for a home visit to my student's house. Family engagement can have an effect on the students. It is important to have a family engagement for several reasons. One important reason is to keep up with your child's learning. To see if they are developing at the right speeds as well as to monitor their process. Family engagement helps promote positive behavior for my current school too. The kids and their parents look forward to monthly family nights. The staff can come up with fun ideas that will help get them involved more. We can do that by giving out nice door prizes and gift cards. Also, by giving away a 3-day free trip on every family engagement night. I know free stuff gets a lot of people's attention. There are 6 type of involvement, parenting, communicating, volunteering,
3 learning at home, decision making, and collaborating with the community. Epstein, J. ( n.d.) six types of involvement, March 12, 2020. Alignment to Professional Competencies or Standards This aligns with the NAFCSE professional competencies or NAEYC standards. It focuses on students learning and progress. Which is very important to keep up with, so you can help out before it’s too late. Communication and collaboration can help out in several ways. So I will always do my best in always make it a priority to do so. Planning for Family Engagement I can use door prizes, gift cards, cash giveaways, free trips. To help with getting more than the usual family involved. With their students learning and more. I can use this idea to help the family that can really use the help. I can use this assistant myself. I love hearing the word free. Inflation is ridiculous right now I am willing to get all the assistance I can. Conclusion Family engagement should be a requirement for all school students. It can help you and your child in the long run. You never know getting familiar with family engagement can help you improve your child's learning and monitor their progress. My daughter's teacher gives me weekly updates on my child. So I can know what I can do to get her where she needs to be if she is not there yet. That’s a big plus for my child and me.
