Christa Jackson Professor M. Wolter SNHU107 15 February 2024 SNHU 107 Module Six Journal Template Complete all parts of this template by replacing the bracketed text with your responses. Submit for grading and feedback. 1. Why do you think feedback from others is important? Feedback from others is important because it provides different perspectives, helps us grow and improve, increases self-awareness, validates or corrects our actions, builds relationships, and aids in performance evaluation. 2. Describe your perceptions regarding receiving feedback. How does receiving feedback make you feel? How can you improve your reaction to feedback? Receiving feedback can make me feel anxious, and sometimes defensive. To improve my reaction to feedback, I can maintain an open mindset, separate feedback from my personal identity, seek clarification if needed, reflect before responding, focus on the positive aspects, and use the feedback to set goals for improvement. 3. Describe how you can use past feedback to inform how you give and receive feedback now. What have you learned from past experiences in which you received feedback?
I have learned the importance of active listening and being open to different perspectives. I have also learned to ask for specific examples, seek clarification, and use feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement. 4. Describe the impact that diversity awareness has on giving and receiving feedback when communicating and collaborating with others. What problems could you run into if you do not understand diversity awareness when communicating and collaborating with others? Diversity awareness has a big impact on giving and receiving feedback when communicating and collaborating with others. It helps us recognize and appreciate different perspectives, experiences, and cultural backgrounds, leading to more effective feedback exchanges. Lack of awareness about diversity can lead to misinterpreting feedback due to different cultural communication styles. Feedback may be influenced by unconscious biases or stereotypes, leading to unfair judgments or discriminatory remarks. 5. Describe how you can use strategies for interacting with diverse groups of people as you give and receive feedback. To communicate well with different groups and give and receive feedback, try these strategies: be aware of different cultures, listen actively, use inclusive language, consider different viewpoints, give specific and helpful feedback, create a safe and welcoming atmosphere, think about your biases, and adjust how you communicate.
