Rita values the opinion of Nimish and appreciates the ideas of her diverse team. This builds relationships by giving every employee of different backgrounds the opportunities to succeed. Knowing this, he went out of his way to communicate with every employee separately to discuss the best ways to communicate to where they understand him. This shows mindfulness and builds relationships. Dave Dave uses mutual respect to build relationships. By giving every employee in the department credit for his idea, he is showing them respect rather than taking all the credit for himself, which would cause tension. Ernesto Ernesto uses trust to build relationships. Because of his expertise, he is able to provide direct and effective feedback, ideas, and options for the team to use to their advantage. He also uses trust to help the team through conflict. 3. Identify at least two (2) collaborative strategies that the team members at Spruce Paper Company used to complete their project. Instead of brushing them off or telling the team to get over it, Rita communicated to them why his input is necessary and appreciated. 2 Establish goals, roles, and responsibilities. The team uses this strategy because they all understand what their place is in the company and in the team. For example, Rita knows she is the leader and final decision maker. Finally, Ernesto has been consulting and providing direction as well as helping the team through difficulties. 4. Collaboration and relationship building are extremely important in professional and personal lives because it increases job satisfaction, expands skillsets, encourages inclusivity, and shows appreciation. Also, according to Indeed, “Collaboration is important in the workplace because it often leads to more communication between colleagues and increased productivity.” (Indeed, 2023). Collaboration can also lead to more self-awareness and understanding of one’s own strengths which better allows you to understand what you bring to the team. Building relationships can also advance an employee’s career and create a more positive work environment.
