PEDG 5370 Public School Curriculum Week 1 Analysis, Part 1 of 2: 21st Century Learning Element #1: Mastery of key subjects and 21 st century themes Summary Entering into the 21 st century of education, there are multiple ways for kids to to learn rather in the classroom. Giving the students to expand there learning. It’s not about the budget however, its about implementing the changes within the school that will be able to change the environment learning. Current Use Ways that I am addressing this is by going outside for science class and allowing props and activities to help students learn. Suggestions Ways I can effect this change is by implementing more outside activities and games for students to learn more. Element #2: Learning and innovation skills Summary Teaching long day and long hours may be sufficient but not effective. Educators need to find ways innovate there skills for learning. Challenges are being face everyday as it results in the environment of our students. It is good for us as educators to create a community for students and teachers in a safe environment for learning. Current Use Addressing this learning and innovaton skills to find ways to help kids at the point of there need. By creating a culture in the classroom that is suitable for everyone. Suggestions Find out the need of the students strength and weakness and build from there. Element #3: Information, media and technology skills. Summary We are living in the days of technology, most of our students are on social media 24/7. They are learning new methods and ways to grow more on technology rather than in the classroom. Current Use In class, most of our learning is visual powerpoints, outside learning as well as videos Suggestions I believe ways I can be more effective is by showing other ways using more multimedia elements in the classrooms. Learning stations can help as well. Create stations so that students to be in a puzzle to help learn what is being taught in the classroom. Element #4: Life and career skills. Summary Dealing with the 21 st century, students are facings many difficulties in learning the knowledge and skills in classes.Having nine ways of learning will help students to be engage in the classroom. Having creative ways to learn will give the students more ways to be engage in learning. Addressing the issues can help change students growth in success. Current Use Nine strategies I use in this lesson is to exploit technonlogy in learning. Allow students to get on clever and youtube videos to help students get another way of learning Suggestions Ways to help effect change is by using these stradegies to help kids to the next level. I believe this will be a hard expection for understand because I think the students will have a hard time understanding how plants and animals depend on each other.
