In project two we examined a gay individuals right to marry and in project three we examined racial discrimination. The GSS data set in project three was the most surprising to me. There was a huge difference in how whites saw the disadvantages black individuals face in day- to-day life opposed to how the black individuals perceive things. In this course, emotional intelligence played a major role in paying attention to my social awareness. It is important to remain aware of your surroundings and in this course I was able to examine different social topics through statistics to determine that there is a lot of change still needing to take place throughout society. Statistics are a part of everyday life and it can be used to make changes within society. Sharing and continuing to use research statistics and data, we will be able to better understand and will be beneficial to help with change with an important topic such as racial discrimination.
