1. From the article by R.L. Coles - Fill-in-the-blanks from the article summary: Single fathers have greater income & social support than single mothers. Single mothers offer greater closeness, monitoring & supervision than single fathers. 2. Watch video - What is the main point of this single father's advice? I think the main point of this single father’s advice was that being present in your child’s life plays such a huge role in the development of their relationship. But I don’t think he just means physically being present or just being around your child. I feel like he means in a more emotional way, when he is with his child, he is only focused on him and nothing else and does everything in is power to make sure the child understands that. He talked about how when he is with his son, he is with his son and when he is at work, he is at work focusing on work but still finds ways to connect with his con while he is at work, for example he mentioned he facetimes his son while at work. He talked about balancing his work life with his personal life because a child seeing a workaholic parent will not build a healthy relationship. I think he makes several great points in his talk. He talks a lot about what he does as a single dad and how he maintains a healthy relationship with his son, but he also is giving ways for other dads, not just single dads to continue to build on their own relationships with their children. I think his advice could be very helpful to fathers with young children or even new fathers preparing to start building those relationships with their children. 3.
