Group Behavior and Process 2 Crime and disorder have risen to an ultimate high in the housing projects it has caused a major epidemic in our nation. Low income and poverty areas have been a major target in tackling crimes. The increasingly amounts of drug dealers, drug users, prostitution, and vandalism threatens the economic growth within the areas. Drugs have been made easily accessible to those who live in these areas. This has several negative effects of the community. It causes a negative environment for those who reside in these areas. Wherever drugs, prostitution and vandalism occur violence will be sure to follow The must be a fast response to these problems.. This paper will discuss problems to be addressed, responses to be considered and assessments performed. The proper way to gather information would be S.A.R.A. Scanning, Analysis, Response and Assessment.(Peak, 2012) What kinds of information would you collect to address problems such as drugs, prostitution, and vandalism The problem areas where known drugs, prostitution and vandalism must be identified. The first thing to do is to get the police involved. If you can you get different agencies that will help out that will be great, because you can find agencies that just focus on the issues inside the neighborhoods. By having these agencies you will be able to track down a lot more whois involved in the illegal activities. By doing so you will be able to keep records of what is going on inside the neighborhood and use those records to make a change. Make sure that when you have police in there that they try to make some type of operation.Once the problem areas have been located the next thing would be to figure out who is supplying the drugs, who is performing prostitution and who is vandalism. Nine times out of ten- half of the individuals who commit crimes in these areas do not have a residence in the projects. We must identify the individuals or residents who assist these known criminals in their illegal activities. Many of the criminals that loiter in these areas usually have safe domains to occupy within the projects. These locations need to be identified. Individuals who loiter in the low income projects do not get condemned because they are loitering close to their homes.. As a result, this causes more traffic around the

To tackle the problems of drugs, prostitution, and vandalism we first must understand why this is a high existence in these areas. Limited police patrol in these areas has created the idea that the police doesn’t care for the people in the housing projects. What the community can’t see is law enforcement working around the clock continuously to stop drug traffic, prostitution, and vandals from these areas.Over the course of years, there have been unsuccessful sting operations that couldn’t tackle the problem. One drug dealer, prostitute or vandal arrested is considered a success; however, there is always more drug dealers and prostitutes in the areas. A response to these crime areas is to observe the areas and then create a task force to attack the areas that were observed. Another response may be to send those involved in prostitution and drug using to medical treatment facilities.(Rector, 2017) What types of assessment would you perform? To be able to assess a situation and make the community a better and safer place for the community, the police use a system called S.A.R.A. S.A.R.A stands for Scanning, Analysis,Response and Assessment. To explain it in more detail, first, Scanning is identifying problems, consequences of the problems, prioritizing problems and confirmation that problems exist. The analysis is understanding the events that precede the problems, identifying data, researching, inventory how the problems are being addressed currently, identifying resources and develop a hypothesis. The response is brainstorming interventions, looking outward at other communities with the same problems and see what they are doing, outlining a response plan, carrying out the plan. Lastly, assessment is a process evaluation, collecting qualitative and quantitative data, determine if goals were obtained and ongoing assessments of the situation. (Peak, 2012) Conclusion

Group Behavior and Process 4 Drugs, Prostitutes and vandalism has plagued many people. In the projects and low income housing this is especially so. Drugs, Prostitutes and vandalism have caused the environment to become dangerous. The first thing to be done is to figure out what information is needed to address these issues, secondly to discover what responses might be considered and what assessment should be used. To effectively decrease the issues of drugs, prostitution and vandalism the information must be gathered and responses need to be made.(Peak, 2012) References Peak, K. (2012).
