BIOLOGICAL CRIMINOLOGY 2 Biological Criminology With the biological theory of ethics in mind, can you give an ethical argument to support not punishing someone who commits a crime as a result of a biological condition? Can you give an ethical argument to support punishing someone who commits a crime as a result of a biological condition? Biological conditions are involuntary in every human being that suffers from one. In criminality, such conditions can trigger or aggravate the crime inclination inherent in a person to commit grave acts. Normally, the actions that people with compulsive biological conditions do originate from their abnormal mind. It is prudent to understand that some criminals unintentionally commit crimes because they are suffering from different mental condition (Pollock, 2014). For instance, people suffering from mental illnesses that cause aggression and degenerate into physical violence are the most susceptible to committing violent crimes unintentionally. Such people can harm another due to their aggression stemming from their mental illness. In a court of law, the consideration of a mental illness being the cause of the crime should be primary. In their sane mind, the offender would not have attempted to commit such a crime. The court should not punish these individuals and instead find the panacea to effectively treating the person to bring him to sanity to avoid a recurrence of the crime (Basich, 2014). Psychological help from psychiatrists, therapist and other professionals can also enhance the healing process. People that suffer from varied biological conditions can also get punishment for their deviant acts because not all crimes committed such individuals are justified. There are some

If such an individual engages in a criminal act, authorities should check their medical background. If the offender has a known mental illness history that inhibits the intake of drugs to suppress the condition, then the case should proceed to judgment. In this case, the person should undergo a medical assessment test to ascertain if he or she uses alcohol or hard drugs that activate the illness. In essence, punishment for a crime executed by a person with a biological condition should be analyzed using this lens. If the assessment discovers usage of drugs or alcohol intake, the crime should thus be considered a deliberate act that is punishable by law (Basich, 2014).
