Interview Summary: For this assignment, I interviewed my friend Rachel, who is currently a college student majoring in sociology. I asked her about her experience growing up in a multicultural household and how it has affected her identity and cultural beliefs. During the interview, Rachel shared that she identifies with a few different subcultures, including the LGBTQ+ community and the feminist movement. She talked about how these identities have influenced her worldview and have helped her develop a sense of empathy and understanding towards people from different backgrounds. Overall, the interview with Rachel was insightful and engaging, and it provided me with a deeper understanding of how culture and identity are intertwined. It was interesting to hear about her experiences growing up in a multicultural household, and how this has shaped her worldview and cultural beliefs. Reflection: After conducting the interview with Rachel, I realized how important it is to acknowledge and celebrate our differences. As a society, we tend to place a lot of emphasis on assimilation and conforming to the norms of the dominant culture, which can lead to the erasure of diverse cultural practices and beliefs. However, by embracing and celebrating our differences, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society.

The interview also made me reflect on my own cultural identity and how it has shaped my worldview. Like Rachel, I come from a multicultural background, and I have always been proud of my heritage. However, I also recognize that there are certain aspects of my culture that may be considered more "mainstream" or dominant, and that there are other cultural practices and beliefs that are often marginalized or stigmatized. This realization has inspired me to learn more about the experiences of people from different cultures and backgrounds, and to challenge my own assumptions and biases. Overall, the interview project was a valuable learning experience that helped me gain a deeper understanding of cultural and social experiences. It reminded me of the importance of empathy, understanding, and respect towards people from different backgrounds, and it inspired me to continue learning about and celebrating diverse cultural practices and beliefs.
