2 Discussion Chapter 11 Individualists will likely not work well in a group, while collectivists will. But collectivists will most likely rely on the help of others to reach a goal, versus individualistic people who can find their way to get a goal by themselves. Therefore, individualists must learn to be patient with collectivists, while collectivists must learn to push their limits. Yes, I consider theatre as having the potential to trigger public debate and intercultural conflicts because theatres host people of different cultures, and every culture has its own beliefs, which can cause conflicts. A movie that I think represents violent conflict is Classism-Snowpiecer. It happens after a global climatic catastrophe has ushered in a new ice age on Earth ( Boong, 2014). The last of humankind is trapped on the Snowpiercer, a huge train that travels around the world indefinitely. As the train is the primary source of food and water for this new civilization, its passengers are separated into a viciously imposed caste system. Everyone learns to be content with their assigned roles . Chapter 12 The non-western culture is racial stereotyping. As a result of negative stereotypes, black people are often denied access to the same resources and opportunities that white people take for granted. When black people live in nations where white people are a minority, the problem of racial stereotyping takes on further complexity. This means that kids will be subjected to prejudice their whole lives. Racial prejudice persists, albeit it is less overt than it was a few years ago. Gender roles are another form of stereotyping. Some societies have strict limitations on the
3 types of work that women can perform. Criminality is often associated with non-Western cultures. Black people are stereotyped as terrorists in the United States. As an illustration, the phrase "Muslims" conjures mental pictures of terrorism, bloodshed, and religious division. However, this loaded phrase is still recklessly and casually employed in mainstream media to build a narrative of Islamic radicalism while denigrating Muslims. I agree that youtube has yielded new patterns of tv watching. There are approximately 5 billion daily YouTube video views. The typical mobile engagement lasts 40 minutes; therefore, the platform has a strong retention rate. Youtube can serve as an intercultural library because video-sharing social media give access to a wide range of cultural outputs from around the world, allowing for testing hypotheses concerning the facilitation of global cultural convergence through the Internet. It indicates that cultural values limit people's willingness to watch popular movies in nations with vastly differing norms of behavior. The Hollywood Shuffle is the most current example of Hollywood mainstream I've watched, which is a 1987 satire film produced by Robert Townsend that pokes fun at negative representations of African-Americans in cinema and television (Robert, 1987). Bobby Taylor is a struggling actor who works at a hot dog stand to support his family. He attempts to get the lead part in Jive Time by auditioning for it. Jimmy's Vengeance is thrilled by the prospect of fame, fortune, and new opportunities for his loved ones. But, he also faces issues about his morality and honesty and is exposed to the industry's racist attitudes against Black people.
