Action Research Research Topic/Question : "Enhancing Sustainable Transportation in Urban Areas: Evaluating the Impact of Electric Vehicle Adoption on Air Quality and Commuter Behavior." Area-of-Focus Statement & Research Topic Context Due to environmental concerns and rising urbanization, sustainable transportation is a priority. Air pollution and traffic congestion in cities are driving a move toward eco-friendly transportation (Namoun et al., 2021.p.2057). This research examines how electric vehicle (EV) adoption affects air quality and commuter behavior in sustainable urban mobility. Electric vehicles are becoming more popular, which might reduce air pollution and change commutes. Policies, urban planning, and sustainable transportation depend on understanding electric vehicle adoption, air quality improvement, and commuter preferences. Variables Independent Variable: Rates of EV adoption and charging infrastructure development. Dependent Variables: Air quality (particulates, nitrogen oxides, carbon emissions). Commuter Behavior (EV adoption, travel patterns) Research Questions How does broad electric car adoption affect urban air quality, mainly particulate matter, and nitrogen oxides?
How does electric car adoption affect commuter behavior, including route and time changes? Do rising electric car usage, higher air quality, and commuter behavior correlate? How can these relationships be quantified and analyzed? Intervention (Innovations) The solution incorporates the planned deployment of electric vehicle charging stations across metropolitan centers and vehicle advantages awareness campaigns. Incentives for electric vehicle purchases, special lanes, and reduced parking rates are all part of the intervention strategy. The charging infrastructure would be improved and made more accessible through public-private partnerships. Timeline Months 1-3: Literature review, air quality data collecting, commuter behavior. Months 4-6: Charging infrastructure, awareness campaigns, and early impact data collecting. Months 7-9: Air quality assessment, commuter surveys, correlation studies. Months 10-12: Research findings, policy recommendations, and final report. Data Collection Ideas Air Quality Monitoring: Measure pollution levels around the city using strategically installed air quality sensors.

Commuter surveys: Assess commute habits, electric car adoption, and sustainable transportation attitudes. Utilization Data: Record charging station usage frequency, electric car kinds, and charging durations. Traffic Flow Analysis: Assess traffic patterns and congestion in high-EV locations to see how they affect traffic flow. This study examines these characteristics and research issues to show how electric vehicles might reduce urban air pollution and improve commuter behavior, creating more sustainable urban environments.
