Ephesians 6
Mary Porter
1.
The reciprocity in familial and working relationships is clear in Ephesians 6. What are the rewards for the one party whom the Apostle Paul tells to do the submitting? Are there biblical conditions that regulate these relationships?
The particular party or individuals the Apostle Paul is referring to are Believers or “Servants of Christ.” By submitting to Jesus Christ, thus we become slaves unto Christ. The “Biblical conditions “that regulate these relationships are submission to the ‘Will of God and from a yielded heart to please God. According to The Apostle Paul, Believers or Servants of The Lord will submit and do any good thing to please Him. The Lord in turn will not withhold any good thing from them, but actually reward them according to the ‘good things they have done from a
pure heart. It doesn’t matter if they are slaves or free; they shall receive a reward(s) from The Lord.
Cross References: Rev 4:2, Jms. 4:7, Rom.13:12 & & 2-Cor6:7

Explain the purpose for each piece of armor as outlined in Ephesians 6:13-17.
The “amour of God” consist of three offensive parts (loins, feet and hand/sword) and three defensive parts (breastplate, shield and helmet).
Truth/Belt: Having our “loins” gird about with truth, we must allow the ‘truth” which is Jesus Christ to totally possess us.
There shouldn’t be no room for darkness to creep in when Christ has taken up residency within our Spirits.
Cross reference: 1-Pet. 1:13, Isa. 11:5 & Lk. 12:35
Preparation of the Gospel of Peace: Believers must know and be willing to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel of peace message shared is that of hope, redemption, atonement, love and forgiveness. For example, God is not holding your sins and transgressions against you if you
accept His Son, “Jesus Christ.”
Cross Reference: Mt. 16:18, Isa 59:17 & Jn.17:17 Breastplate of Righteousness
= Believers must cover their heart daily and consistently with the Word of God. The Breastplate is the largest part of the amour of God. We must want and desire
what is right in the sight of God and walk in it.
Cross Reference: Acts. 10:35, Lk. 12:25
The Shield of Faith: The Shield of Faith is used to protect Believers. It is used as a barrier or wall
of protection from evil attacks. Faith prompts us to believe God above any attacks we may encounter from the enemy as ‘Spiritual Soldiers.” Cross References: Josh. 5:14, Heb. 11:1, Rom 8:1, Rev. 12:10-12
Helmet of Salvation: The Helmet of Salvation is used as an analogy or example to protect our mind and thoughts. Believers need to know that we have been delivered from the eternal penalty of sin into God’s Kingdom. Without the Helmet of Salvation, the enemy can attack the mind of the Believer by causing them to believe they have been condemned or eternally lost. Salvation basically means to be saved or delivered from something. The Helmet of Salvation reveals to us as Believers that “There is therefore no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus.”
Cross References: Romans 12:1, Rom, 6:23, Ex 14:13, Micah 7:6-8
The Sword of The Spirt: The Sword or “The Word of God,” is used to cut and peirce. In terms of offensive weapons necessary for spiritual battle, The Sword is most valuable. Combined with prayer, praise and worship The Sword of The Spirit which is the Word of God has “The Power of God “to combat and defeat any attempts and plans of the enemy. And to turn what appears to be a losing battle into a victory for God’s Kingdom. Because we wrestle not against flesh and blood, The Sword of The Spirit knows where and what to cut and destroy anything that is not of
God…
Cross References: Mt 4:4, Heb. 4:12, ps. 2:7

What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? How does one watch with all perseverance and supplication for all saints?
When we pray in the Spirit, The Spirit of God actually is doing the praying or interceding on our behalf according to the “Will of God” for our lives. When we pray in the Spirit, the Word of God says, He searches our hearts, all things and the deep things of God. God’s Spirit allow or pull together our hearts desires and The “Will of God,” aligns them AND THEN He prays that alignment together in order for it to come to pass. Praying in the Spirit also means praying in your “Heavenly Language” given by The Holy Spirit. As Believers we watch with all perseverance and supplication for all saints by being patient, steadfastness, persistent, tenacity, determination and consistent. When praying for the saints of God, we must humble ourselves and pray with all types of prayers such as prayers of
intercessions, prayers of supplication (crying out and or pleading to God on the behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ) and prayers of thanksgiving. We must be sincere, loving and genuine when praying for all the saints with perseverance and supplication.
