Benchmark—Gospel Essentials
There are many different aspects to the Christian worldview and other worldviews, as well. For Christianity, there is the nature of God, nature of humanity, nature of Jesus, as well as the foundations of the Christian worldview. All of these different areas help explain the beliefs behind Christianity, where the different beliefs come from, and provide some validation and information to back up the bible and other areas of Christianity for those of the Christian faith and others. Christianity and the belief in an all-knowing being that created the universe can be a tough concept to wrap one’s mind around. Being able to break down the different areas of the Christian worldview is very helpful in gaining a better understanding of Christianity.
Gospel Essential Beliefs
Nature of God
Although it can be a tricky thing to put into the right words or fully grasp, there are many characteristics used to explain God and what he is like. According to the Christian worldview, God is the creator of everything, including the universe, the Heavens, and the earth. He is seen as
the creator of all things and as the divine ruler of all. The Bible states that “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:16). He is known to be an all-knowing and all-loving being who is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. God is described as being the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Topic overview 2, 2020). God is one being that can exist as three different persons. Nature of Humanity
The nature of humanity is known to be that humans were created in the image of God. Humans were created with two parts to their being, including a soul and a physical body. A 2
major part of the nature of humanity is that humans were also created with a purpose and value. Humans were created to do meaningful work (Gen. 1:15, 26). We were also created for marriage and to have a family, as well as to have a relationship with God. Although a point of human creation was for family and marriage, it is stated that humans are still able to live a full life without these aspects, just as the Apostle Paul did.
Nature of Jesus
The true identity of Jesus through the lens of the Christian worldview is that he is the son of God and was sent to Earth in order to rescue humanity from things like sin. According to the Bible, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit" (1 Peter 3:18). He is also referred to as God the Son and is the second part of the triune. Jesus’s kingdom purpose on Earth
was to establish the Kingdom of God for humanity. Jesus’s work and identity are important to the Christian worldview as they are seen as a foundation to the beliefs of Christianity. Restoration
According to the Christian worldview, the solution to human problems is placing one’s faith in Jesus Christ, giving God the glory, and having a relationship with God. In the face of a problem, Christians would turn to God in order to find solutions to their problems. Grace, Faith and repentance are all necessary parts of Christian salvation. Grace is a crucial part of Christian salvation, as it is believed that giving Grace is how God forgives humans and their sins. Faith is another very large element of Christian salvation as faith is seen as a gift from God to those that seek God. Repentance also plays a large role in salvation as it is the act of turning toward God and away from the sins of humanity. Christian worldview follows the belief that transformation of self and society happens through following the teachings of Jesus Christ. By following the 3

teachings of Jesus Christ, humans are able to be transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Christian Foundations
The nature of God, nature of humanity, nature of Jesus and restoration are all crucial aspects of the Christian worldview that help to make up the foundations of Christianity. Without these foundational areas of the Christian worldview, it would be very hard for Christians to find validation in the information in the bible and their beliefs. It is essential for these areas of Christianity to be broken down in order to find a better understanding of these beliefs and to be able to follow the Christian worldview. Without knowing the nature of God, humanity and Jesus Christ, it would be very difficult to have an understanding the worldview and know what you’re placing your beliefs in. Knowing the nature behind these different components of the Christian worldview allows Christians to have validation in their beliefs and be able to spread their beliefs.
Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview
There are many strengths or benefits of the Christian worldview relating to human value as the Christian worldview pushes people to hold themselves to a higher standard. By following the beliefs of the Christan worldview, people work hard to reach a level that they feel is worthy of their beliefs. I believe that they main things that people find troublesome or confusing about Christianity is just the idea of one being creating the universe and being in charge of everything in existence. When people look at the creation of the universe from a scientific standpoint, I believe that this is where some of the confusion and questioning comes in. It can be very hard to comprehend or wrap one’s mind around the idea that the universe was created by one being. Conclusion

The Christian worldview is one that has many different components that once you’re able
to work through them and bring these different components together, it becomes much easier to understand and have a grasp of where these beliefs come from and how this worldview has existed for such a long period of time. Looking more in depth at things such as the nature of God, humanity, and Jesus Christ, as well as the foundations of the Christian worldview can really
open one’s eyes and help them to see this worldview from the perspective of a Christian. It also makes it much easier to understand where Christians are able to find validation in their worldview and continue to believe the information that is presented through Christianity.
