BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: APPLICATION TEMPLATE
Passage: Acts 19:11-22
1.
Miraculous deeds were performed by God through Paul in Acts 19:11-22 “God did
extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that touched
him were taken to the sick, and their illness were cured, following by the evil spirits
leaving them.” When the Seven Sons of Sceva attempted to imitate this behavior, they
witnessed the extreme wickedness of the spirits. This led many Jews and Greeks to
renounce idolatry and turn to worship God. The key is to worship God, share his
teachings, and avoid getting entangled in the world's evil. Despite our weaknesses, God
calls us to pray and stay devoted to him. It is essential to always return to the Lord and
not allow the surrounding evil to discourage us. Should we falter, remember God's love
and his power to overcome evil. Having a fellowship with God will connect you with
like-minded individuals and may inspire others to serve Him.
2.
God's extraordinary works through Paul were a result of his faithfulness and obedience,
serving as a Christlike model in his New Testament writings. In a demonstration of
divine power, Paul's clothing healed the sick. His lack of arrogance, self-assurance, or
pride is a lesson in humility from which we can learn. In Colossians 3:12-14, Paul lists
virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, and discipline as God-approved attire.
Proverbs 22:4 affirms that humility leads to honor, wealth, and a fulfilling life. As I grow
in my faith, I must prioritize humility. The Pharisees, who memorized scriptures,
displayed arrogance, emphasizing the importance of humility alongside knowledge. Jesus
epitomized humility in Philippians 2:5-8, willingly submitting to God's will.
3.
Frequently, we may be in situations where our actions impact others positively or
negatively. Today, hustle culture is prevalent. We often feel the need to rush through
prayer, building families, and healing from our past. Instead, God wants us to take our
time, pray sincerely, build families in a Christian manner, and heal from our past
effectively. We may think we can be instantly healed through prayer like Paul and Jesus
healed the Jews, but that is not the lesson. God does not rush our healing but will do so if
we follow and love him. We should not compare our blessings to but will do so if we
follow and love him. We should not compare our blessings to others', as God
communicates with us uniquely. Our fellowship and devotion can bless others and God's
love guides us.
4.
The evil spirits demonstrated discernment by recognizing that the Jewish exorcists were
not operating under the authority of God like Paul. Christians should also be able to
discern between truth and manipulation in various aspects of life, such as with politicians,
religious leaders, teachers, and influencers. Romans 12:2 emphasizes the need to renew
our minds through studying the Bible to discern God's will
