Scriptures I found that contain
(ingredients) or teachings about
growing a testimony.
What did that scripture or verse teach you about developing a testimony?
Example: 1
st
Nephi 2:16
Nephi had “great desires” to know the mysteries of God. We must have
great desires and ask for our hearts to be opened and softened to receive the spirit and testimony we seek.
Use the Next 3 Rows of boxes for your own examples.
Mark 4: 4-20
Jesus had to teach the people that we are like unto a seed and we have to nourish ourselves in order to grow in the way that we were meant to. The worries of life are what drags us down.
Alma 5: 45-48
Alma is talking to the people about his faith in Christ, and Alma talks about how he gained this knowledge. He spent many days fasting and pleading to know of the trust, it is not easily obtained, but through dedication you will know.
Jacob 7:5
One thing that I really liked is after we talked about the Lehies we are prompted to be more like Jacob. That is because in this scripture he talks about how sure he is about the Gospel that he could never be shaken. We should all strive to be more like Jacob.
Favorite Scripture about Gaining a testimony.
Why was this scripture your favorite, and what did it teach you?
3 Nephi 18:1-11
This scripture touched me the most because I haven’t ordained the sacrament in a long time, and it reminded me of the importance of sacrament. I always found it to be my honor to be able to bless others by doing as Jesus asked of us thousands of years ago.
Answer the following three questions from Becoming Converted (steps 5
& 6)
Habits of success: After studying the scriptures included, what do you feel are some of the keys to successfully overcoming doubt and building a strong testimony?
After studying these scriptures there a few key things that are important in retaining the Gospel. First we must learn for ourselves the trust that the Gospel
gives us and have confidence in our Heavenly Father. We are surrounded by temptation always and it is important to be steadfast like Jacob was. If we are to grow like a seed we need to nourish that seed daily with scriptures and prayer and avoid things that will taint our growth .
After Studying Alma, Enos, Amulek, Zeezrom and Lamoni’s father what do you feel are some of the important changes that take place in the process of conversion? Where do you After studying these people the most important thing to change in the conversion process is to know that we are going to fail. We are constantly acted on by a negative force, but it is our choice to give into it. There is a reason that we must always remember why we are apart of the gospel. Faith is
defined by believing something eventhough you cannot see it, and although we can’t necessarily see it it is important to remember the positive benefits that the Church gives you. I feel that I am at the point in my conversion
see yourself in this process?
process that I need to work on keeping the blessings of the Gospel more present in my mind so I can share that gratitude with others.
After Reading about the Anti-
Nephi-Lehies and Jacob and the teachings on Retaining conversion and staying strong; Make a list of things we can do to stay strong and avoid withering away in unbelief. What teachings apply to your family?
There are the obvious things that we should be doing everyday which is daily scripture study and prayer. Both of these tools are as useful as you make them,
so be mindful when studying and communicating with your Heavenly Father. One thing that really helps me stay Grounded is to participate in fast and testimony meeting. I find that when I fast and pray about my fast and share my
testimony, it almost feels like a reset for the month because it feels like something that Jesus would do and it really makes me feel great about the Gospel. And of course, share these blessings with your family. Sharing you experiences with the Gospel with your Family or friends is so powerful because
it invites the spirit and allows for everyone to have a meaningful conversation.
