⃝]
2.
Explanation of
Key Events and
Scriptures
Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus
Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specifc
scripture references, focusing especially on restoration scriptures (Book of Mormon,
Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price).
Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you
believe about the truths and events you studied this week. Share in your own words several
insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three references
to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote
them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone.
Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria:
1.
200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the
section).
2.
Include at least 3 references.
Response: After Jesus Christ’s resurrection and ascension to heaven, there was a time of apostasy when there
was no prophet or apostles, and priesthood authority was also taken from the face of the earth. People
changed the doctrines of the church according to their own will. This period of apostasy after the
resurrection of Jesus Christ is called great apostasy. It was clearly mentioned in the book of Amos in Old
Testament
Amos 8:11–12
that there will be a famine of the word of God. It was fulfilled and mentioned in
the book of Mormon, Mormon: 1; 13-14. According to this scripture, during this time of apostasy,
wickedness did prevail, and Lord took away his prophets/disciples and there were no miracles and healing,
and people didn’t have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Can you imagine, how deeply the restoration was needed.
Therefore, this apostasy didn’t long last, and the Lord chose His prophet once again. The priesthood was
restored again on this earth. The restoration started with the story of young boy Joseph Smith, who was just
14 years old and was confused about the so many different churches. We can study his story in the Pearl of
Great Price in Joseph Smith History. His sincere prayer was answered by the visitation of Heavenly Father
and Jesus Christ (JSH; 1: 17-19), where he was advised not to join any of those Churches. The true church of
Jesus Christ was restored on 6
th
April-1830. We can see this is the same church that Jesus Christ built in His
life.
I firmly believe God chooses prophets today. He says that prophet’s voice is His voice in Doctrine &
Covenants 1:38. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I say everything in the name of Jesus
Christ.

3. Synthesis:
Personal
Relevance and
Application to
the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter daily that are consequences of living in
a fallen world. The readings this week of ‘
The Need for a Restoration
’ as well as the restored
Gospel of Jesus Christ have tremendous power to help people fnd answers, rise above
problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that
week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you
have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental
truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think
these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging
with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your
response.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Response:
Since we have not yet studied articles of faith, so I will not relate my topic to them. I chose to reflect on the challenge
of abortion, which is complex subject and difficult to address. I feel that more and more people see abortion as a
viable option for these days. But on the other hand, we conservatives or so-called conservatives don't think this way.
This is contrary to the principles of the gospel of God, which we adhere to as members of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints. As mentioned in Gospel Topics: Abortion, "Human life is a sacred gift from God. It is contrary to
God’s will and commandments to choose abortion for personal or social convenience. Life is one of the most precious
things that the Lord has given us.
Becoming a father of two sons is one of the greatest blessings I have ever received. My personal belief is that
regardless of whether it was planned or not, outside of marriage or with another partner, or some situations decided
by yourself, you should abide by the consequences and take responsibility, not avoid it. Apart from the fact that those
little ones will never be to blame for what we adults do. We know very well that for God, children are light and
innocent souls in this world who deserve the opportunity to have a family and come to this world.
Just as our Heavenly Father loves us, knows, and understands us, abortion is an option in serious situations, when the
pregnancy occurred during rape or incest. The Church of Jesus Christ helps these people to support their mental
health, gives them the possibility of choosing, and tries to motivate them to move forward with the Lord by their
side. The Church also promotes adoption if the situation permits it.
Finally, I would like to comment on how laws, authorities, and even society itself are willing to accept abortion as the
choice for women. But for God, there is no option in this, there is only a No to abortion. Children deserve to be born
and have a life in the world where the Lord has sent them. We must take care of them, procure them, and protect
them. If that is not possible, there will always be angels, people willing to give happiness to these beautiful children.
Let's not take his life and follow the principles of our God.
