2 Teaching is a vital part of the community. Although changes have happened within the teaching industry, teachers quickly adapt. Increased diversity has happened in classrooms, creating many issues for teachers. Society has changed over the last 20 years, and people have become more socially inclined. We have seen the rise of AI technology and the surge of technology within schools. Due to the changing landscape of teachers, many teachers are required to do much more in the classroom. Education psychology studies how humans learn and retain knowledge, primarily in educational settings like a classroom (Educational Psychology Overview). Education has been a thriving industry since ancient times. Everyone remembers the first day of going to their preschool/grade school and walking out with a handshake and a diploma. However, the knowledge retained and applied is much more valuable than a piece of paper, as I read the book Education Psychology by Kelvin Seifert and Rosemary Sutton Seifert, (K. (2019, May 1). I identified two critical reasons that explain and break down education psychology. The first reason was understanding individual differences. Educational psychology emphasizes recognizing college students' diverse mastering patterns, abilities, and needs. This expertise is essential for instructors because it enables them to tailor their coaching strategies and materials to house diverse mastering alternatives. By being privy to students' character differences, teachers can create more inclusive and effective studying surroundings that cater to the wishes of all college students, irrespective of their historical past or capabilities. In other words, educational psychology highlights the significance of acknowledging numerous learning styles, skills, and needs among college students. This focus equips teachers to customize their teaching techniques and sources to suit various learning choices, fostering inclusive and
3 efficient learning surroundings that benefit all college students, no matter their backgrounds or talents. As I continued to read the book, I found another reason that helped me to understand the importance of education psychology for teacher preparation ( Seifert, K. (2019, May 1). Understanding students' individual differences is essential to teaching, but having effective teaching strategies is just as important. Effective Teaching Strategies are essential to teaching. Educational psychology offers insights into teaching strategies that could optimize student learning and engagement. For example, knowledge about cognitive processes, memory retention, and information processing can help teachers design lessons that align with how students’ study and do not forget information ( Seifert, K. (2019, May 1).. Additionally, expertise principles, which include motivation, self-efficacy, and boom mindset, can assist teachers in fostering high- quality and supportive schoolroom surroundings that encourage college students to take ownership of their learning and attempt fulfillment. Educational psychology is valuable because it provides coaching techniques to assist teachers with gaining knowledge and increasing student engagement (Seifert, K. (2019, May 1). Teachers can leverage insights into cognitive approaches, reminiscence, and records retention to create classes that align with powerful knowledge strategies. Additionally, ability, motivation, and a growth attitude permit instructors to cultivate a high-quality classroom environment that empowers students to aim for high academic achievement. In the classroom, I have seen action research used in a class, improving student learning. When I first enrolled at Central State University as a first-year student, I took precalculus, an exceedingly difficult course ( Action Plan. (n.d.). My professor then decided to create a Microsoft form for students to complete. The form was meant for students to say how they feel about the

4 course thus far. Many students complained, saying that the course was challenging and fast- paced, and my friends both voiced their opinions openly to my professor. After my professor noticed this issue and got feedback from all of us, she quickly adjusted the course and went at a slower pace. To better help us understand the courses, she detailed questions, allowed us to answer steps about a problem, and gave us videos on how to break down certain math equations. Overall, everyone struggling with that course passed with a C or above. This was my experience seeing mu professor use action research in a classroom setting. In conclusion, education psychology is essential because it helps study how humans learn and retain knowledge. Many educators conduct action research during lessons to increase productivity and student engagement. If action research is done correctly, it is highly effective in helping students learn.
