For purposes of your learning, this assignment also exposes you to an understanding of all the PTSD and Suicide assessment criterion. PTSD should be considered very carefully and differentiated from other disorders. Most people, while they may have trauma related feelings and experiences do not experience all the PTSD symptoms. Students will work in their group with one person being the role play client and the other the clinician. The others in the group in the group will be observers and provide feedback. Depending on your interviewing skills and this assessment may take up to an hour or hour and half; however, your submission should only be 15 – 20 minutes in length. Please submit a section where a group member is administering the selected assessment measure. Use the following information and steps to conduct your role play: Preparation o Print out the assessment measures as you will need to mark them up or use the fileable PDFs Vignette o Students may embellish the vignette based on your observation of other people’s experiences. For safety purposes, please do not use your own personal history, or your role play partner’s personal history. Step One o Administer the suicide assessment first. For our purposes the vignette role play will not be suicidal. Read the assessment as it is written to the client. Since you are doing a vignette the worst event will be described in the vignette, however the “client” should embellish the other events in order to provide thorough assessment information. o As the “client” responds, make sure the “clinician” fills out the assessment. If need to, pause and ask them to repeat and for clarification. Use interviewing skills. Step Two o Process the assessment with your mock peer student/client. How was it for them? What are some DEI considerations with conducting assessments like these? Step Three o Once the video is completed, edit it and select one 10-15-minute section from the Suicide and the PTSD PCL-5 administration to upload for grading and for discussion. If possible, select a video section that shows your strengths. Select a section that shows your interview not the informed consent process or introductions (There are several video editing programs which can be used for free online). During your assessment interview, be sure to demonstrate the following: Fidelity to the instruments Assessment skills Therapeutic sensitivity Collaboration Submitted video section meets and does not exceed length requirements Submitted video section is clear and audible (if not, provide a transcript) Step Four o Scan and upload your filled out the assessment measures or use the fillable PDF versions and submit them to the Assessment Role Play Scanned Assessments assignment in Canvas. o Step Five The group will prepare a brief written reflection on your role play experience and what you learned. It will be uploaded together with the video. As part of your reflection discuss how diversity, inequality inclusion and social justice constraints may change or impact your assessment This is a group assignment: Note that it is the group responsibility to submit group assignments on time. Make sure that the work is evenly assigned as much as possible. Only one group member needs to submit the video and written reflection assignment on behalf of the group. Make sure that one of you does so on time. If you are not submitting on behalf on your group, just post an acknowledgement that the assignment has been submitted and the names of the students in your group so that you can account for your attendance Upload the edited 10-15 minute segment of your recorded role play to Canvas using the Kaltura Video App for Canvas. Please click on the following link for a tutorial on how to upload recordings using Kaltura . If you encounter difficulties in using Kaltura, you may also utilize another file sharing service (e.g., OneDrive, Dropbox) and upload your presentation to that file sharing service, making sure that your links are not password protected. Select one student from your group to post a link to your group’s recording. The assignments in the course required to post both a video link and a reflection. The best option is to use the "Text Entry" submission type. You will find that option as a tab in the submission area. One student in the group would put all of the information in the single submission. Even though it says "text entry" you may include/ embed a link video and or upload videos using the Rich Content Editor (RCE), or embed videos. Then can also post a text in the Rich Content Editor with the group reflection.
