1 Project One Eivor Raven-Eye Southern New Hampshire University PSY 260: Statistical Applications for the Behavioral and Social Sciences Nathaniel Thomas October 20, 2023
2 Project One Introduction: Describe the purpose of your memo and the plan to address the scenario in 1 to 3 sentences. The purpose of this memo is to provide support to this non-profit and help deepen the level of understanding and teaching how empathy can be used to gain a different audience. This information will be used to provoke empathy in the audience because we are trying to get donations using empathy. Conclusions: Describe your findings in an executive summary of 4 to 6 sentences. Include the following in your conclusions: The main points you want to convey to your audience Rationale for your points in the form of data summaries Purpose of this memo was to obtain donations based on an empathy score used to target a specific kind of audience. I wanted to acknowledge all classes do have a high empathy rating toward others. The middle and working class have the highest scores, with overall average empathy being 4.6-4.01. The upper class had a slightly lower score of 3.95. This was lower than the other classes, however the target audience should be individuals with the most money to give which is the upper and middle class due to cost of living. Discussion: Main Analysis: Describe the summary statistics and frequency distributions, taking into account the scale of measurement for your data. Refer to the graphs you created. Your main analysis section should be about 2 to 5 sentences. The average empathy rating per class from respondents that the lower the class the higher the empathy rating was with the lower class rating at 4.06. Upper and lower class were the lowest responders and had a slightly lower average empathy scores. This indicates a higher empathy score relates to more of an inclination to respond to the survey. All indicate that this is most likely a correlation to kinship. Graph One: Create a graphical representation of the qualitative (nominal and often ordinal) data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following criteria: You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo. Your graph is accurate and objective. Your graph appropriately represents the data. You use the appropriate type of graph for the data. Your graph is labeled appropriately.
3 Graph Two: Create a graphical representation of the quantitative (interval and/or ratio) data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following criteria: You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo. Your graph is accurate and objective. Your graph appropriately represents the data. You use the appropriate type of graph for the data. Your graph is labeled appropriately.

4 Recommendations: Describe the actions you believe your audience should take in 2 to 5 sentences. I recommend that we target the upper class. While empathy scores are lower they are pretty similar to the others and actually have a means to contribute to the success of the organization. the data shows that some of the upper class has the desire and empathy but at the same time have the financial stability to provide donations unlike the lower class Limitations: Describe the limitations of both your data and your summaries in 1 to 3 sentences. The limitations are that the number of respondents in each class varies significantly. this could easily affect the averages, specifically affecting lower and upper classes. It's shown to have less number respondents. More respondents in each of these classes may effect the overall empathy average.
