First, explain the learning theory selected. Observational learning is a learning theory based on learning new behaviors through the observation of others’ behavior( Cherry,2023) For example, anytime my two-year-old toddler hurts herself, I comfort her by wiping her tears, giving her a hug, asking her what happened, and kissing the body part that hurts. One day my daughter saw me crying on the couch and she comforted me in the same way I would her. Then, thinking about the disorder you have chosen, in three to four sentences explain the major characteristics of the selected learning theory as they relate to your disorder. For example, how can the symptoms of the disorder be learned or reinforced through a learning theory process? Separation anxiety is when kids feel anxious or scared when they are separated from a caregiver. Separation anxiety in toddlers and babies is part of normal development, usually starting at around 8 or 9 months. It can last up to age 3(Anderson& Peaxhman,2023). My daughter’s separation anxiety started around the age 1. I feel as though she learned these behaviors because of me. Anytime I had to leave her with a babysitter I would hug her, cry a little, and call every hour. My anxiety was through the roof when I first had her being that I was a first-time parent. Her seeing this every time we parted way she began to mock these behaviors when it was time for her to start school, go to a babysitter, or her dads for the weekend.
