PSYC 354 H YPOTHESIS T ESTING T EMPLATE Research Question 1: A counselor who works with adults with anxiety disorders wants to know whether there is a relationship between scores on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS-A) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). He intends to study this by giving all new clients the two measures at intake and looking at their scores on the two measures. He will use the standard alpha value of .05. Based on this scenario, answer the following questions. 1. Does this question represent a correlational or experimental research design? Why? ANSWER: (4 pts) 2. Specifically, her research question is whether Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is more effective than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in treating BPD. She intends to study this using two samples of women, one which receives DBT and one which receives CBT. She will use the standard alpha value of .05.
