At-Risk or At-Hope Amy Donofrio, who is a teacher and advocate for the youth. She discusses how difficult it is to reach the youth who are at risk. In her crusade to reach students, she utilizes storytelling to gain knowledge and information about the youth to gain a better understanding of who they are and what they are going through. Stefan implored individuals to contribute by establishing "truth-telling circles" as a means for young people to express themselves, disclose their innermost emotions, and redirect their anger. Lightening a Path for At-Risk Youth Mark Vargo and Erik Bringswhite gave a presentation of a program for at-risk youth who get into legal trouble. The gentlemen discuss how understanding one’s culture is essential before you can formulate a plan or direction for the young person who is at risk. Through culture, they attempt to help the youth see a path to a better quality of life by forming a program, “Young Adult Diversion” to guide the troubled youth. Donna explains how critically at-risk youth poses a real hazard to society for the reason that young people with no hope do not care about the consequences of their actions. She expresses how some of the training programs lack vitality or conviction and have outdated knowledge of culture.
