You will need space to work on applying theory and research to the case. Case Name the person in the case study and describe in your own words their current situation. Explain the stage of life the person is in according to the theories you selected. Prompt Description Name: Brenda Current Situation: Brenda, a divorced and childless woman at 43, feels unfulfilled and inadequate compared to her peers. She realizes she must rewrite her script and define her own path. Brenda discovers that fulfillment comes from personal passions, meaningful connections, and making positive impact. She explores new hobbies and joins community groups, finding solace and personal growth. Brenda learns not to compare herself to others and celebrates her own milestones. She volunteers her marketing skills to create change in her community, finding fulfillment beyond a traditional career. Brenda is encouraged to embrace her individuality and embrace her boundless potential. Stage of Life: Generativity is a concept related to socioemotional selectivity theory. Theory Explain the theories you selected to apply to the case. Once you explain the theory in general, provide details about the stage for the person in the case you selected. Explain how the theory helps to understand their development and their situation. 1

Prompt Description Selected Theories: Brenda is currently going through Generativity in her midlife. Stage Details: Erikson (1950) Erikson’s stage of life is the period of mid to late adulthood where individuals stive to make their makr on the world and contribute to it. This stage characterized by gerativity versus stagnation. Those who fail to chieve generativity may end up feeling stuck, without making an impact. This theory helps explain Brenda’s current state, feelings of depression. She must find a way to maker her life more meaningful and feel valuable. ( Lang & Carstensen, 1995 ) How theory helps the understanding of development: The theory of time perception suggests that as individuals age, they become more aware of the limited time they have left, leading to a shift in priorities towards emotionally meaningful goals. This theory applies to Brenda, a 43-year-old woman feeling unfulfilled and constrained by societal expectations. Generativity, the desire to leave a lasting impact, can be pursued in various forms beyond traditional roles. Brenda's realization prompts her to embark on a journey of self-discovery, finding purpose through volunteering and creative pursuits. This serves as a reminder that generativity is not confined to motherhood and can be harnessed by anyone. The perception of time's limited nature should be seen as a catalyst for transformation, prioritizing meaningful goals and leaving a lasting legacy. Brenda's journey exemplifies the transformative power of generativity and encourages others to embrace the infinite possibilities within themselves.
