Hello professor and peers, Child Abuse and Neglect When working with young children, developmental milestones are crucial because they provide me with a good reason to keep an eye on each child's progress and decide whether they are developing normally. It's essential to look for developmental milestones to comprehend the growth and behavior of each child. A child's conduct may be explained by milestones. A teacher or other caregiver can intervene and provide the required resources and tools for the family and kid after they have identified the behavioral issue/developmental delay. Children will attain their milestones in the correct order, even if each kid develops at their own speed.Having a solid grasp of developmental stages can help you evaluate children's play and learning in an efficient manner. Strong professional knowledge should serve as the foundation for intentional teaching, planning, and assessment. Cognitive development: The process by which kids think through and resolve problems. Children are assisted in thinking about and comprehending the world around them via the development of their knowledge, skills, problem-solving abilities, and dispositions. Cognitive development includes brain development. Communication development: Uses a variety of instruments and techniques, communication for development is a social process built on communication. Self Help Skills: Children gradually acquire self-help skills to increase their level of independence. The goal is to provide children with life skills so they can take care of themselves independently of help. for example, putting on clothes, taking a shower, and brushing your teeth. Social-emotional development: The capacity of a kid to express, identify, and control their emotions as well as react properly to those of others is known as emotional development. Stated differently, social development pertains to a child's capacity to establish and maintain significant connections with both adults and other kids. Motor Skills: Gross motor abilities and fine motor skills are two categories of motor development. engage in physical activity to help kids develop both large and tiny. Three Domains: 1. A child's growth must be tracked to make sure they are growing appropriately. 2. Sexual abuse 3. Emotional/physical abuse Child abuse and neglect have a significant impact on a child's developmental milestones. A child will eventually become delayed by force if they are not provided with the necessary care and attention when they are still in a developing stage. Neglect frequently entails chronic circumstances that are more difficult to identify than individual episodes, in contrast to physical or sexual abuse, which is typically incident-specific (Hildyard & Wolfe, 2002). Maltreatment in childhood has been associated with costs to society overall as well as long-term behavioral, psychological, and physical effects. These effects might not be connected to one another, but they might also be independent of one another. For instance,
abuse or neglect may impede a child's brain's physical development and result in psychological issues like poor self-esteem, which may subsequently trigger risky behaviors like substance misuse.
