It's possible that we've all helped someone, and most of us do it daily. Our support may be as simple as holding a door open for a person carrying books or goods, a parent carrying a child, or the classic elderly lady crossing the street. In these situations, helping means supporting someone. Helping, comforting, sharing, and cooperating are not always altruistic, but pro-social behavior is "a range of actions intended to benefit one or more people other than oneself" (Batson, 1998, p. 282). One of my daily responsibilities as a leader is to demonstrate trustworthiness to my staff by acting in a fair, honest, and consistent manner always. Within my employees, I abstain from and have zero tolerance for gossip. Employees should be assured that I will always have their backs and I should use every opportunity to demonstrate this. Offering constructive criticism on the way to achieving specific prosocial goals is one way I might set an example by modeling and teaching prosocial conduct to people who might be learning from me. Get your social graces in order before venturing out. Clarify the protocol for the next event and remind everyone of their responsibilities. Prepare people for novel circumstances with the help of social stories. As part of my strategic approach, I initiated the practice of disseminating written expressions of appreciation in conspicuous locations accessible to my team members. Additionally, the practice of engaging in daily affirmations has been initiated, with the purpose of expressing gratitude and acknowledging the value of others. Various enjoyable activities have been organized, including a cooking contest and pumpkin painting, with the victor being awarded a gift card. These factors have contributed to an increase in workforce morale. The integration of prosocial conduct has proven to be a highly beneficial initiative within my workplace.
