Review the information about confirmation bias on p. 114 of the textbook. Based on the definition, identify a current event or recent scenario from the internet* that illustrates confirmation bias. Describe the scenario. Then, discuss how you think confirmation bias is operative in it. Write 1-2 paragraphs. *Please include the link to the scenario you are discussing. Based on the scenario you described, identify the specific, potentially negative effects of the confirmation bias you saw in it. Then, suggest ways that confirmation bias might have been avoided or overcome. Write 1-2 paragraphs.
Identify a controversial social issue (i.e., gun control, voting rights, gender identification, etc.). From the list of cognitive/perceptual and social errors in the list below, choose at least two and describe how these errors might bias one's thinking about the issue you identified. These errors are described in pages 119 - 134.
