Option 1: Motivation is a set of elements that influence and fuel both human and other behavior. The complexities of the idea of motivation led to the development of several ways by psychologists aiming to explain the energy that guides human action in certain directions (Feldman, 2018). Reading about motivation theories this week made me think about the reasons for my drive and why I want specific things in life for myself. My greatest success to date would be opting to return to nursing school. Nursing has always been a dream of mine since I was a child, but I felt like there was always something standing in my way. Life, and three children later, taught me that I needed to quit delaying and start doing it. I want a better life for my children and myself, and I want them to understand that while life happens, it is never too late to pursue your aspirations. My children are my primary reason for returning to school and pursuing my ambition of being a nurse. According to the cognitive theory, motivation is the result of a person's beliefs, objectives, ideas, and expectations (Feldman, 2018, p. 302). Because I wanted to work in the medical industry, my intrinsic cognitive drive drove me to nursing school. I appreciate studying everything about the human body and all the different ways the body works and learning about how diseases affect the body. Learning all I need to know to be able to do my job and be great at it. It gives me the impression that I am making my desires come true. Reference Feldman, R. (2018).
