2 Introduction: Behavior Analysis The topic I chose for this assignment was Behavior Analysis, previously known as Behaviorism. This topic is of interest to me because I want to become an Applied Behavior Analyst. Becoming an ABA requires knowledge of how an individual's behavior changes and is affected by the environment and learning process. I want to learn more about this topic because it will prepare me for the real world and how to deal with individuals who are facing behavioral problems. ABAs are needed a lot because they can come up with treatment plans to help parents and teachers cope with behavioral challenges they may face with children. ABAs also work with a lot of autistic people because they require much more attention. Most ABAs work in hospitals, government organizations, and outpatient facilities. Some ABAs also do in-home sessions. I would like to do in-home sessions so that I can see what type of environment an individual is in. I feel as if the environment the individual lives in triggers the behavioral problem. Different reinforcement needs to be justified. Hopefully, I can change that outcome and help many families and teachers understand how to deal with behavioral changes they may encounter. Earlier in this course, I said I wanted to work with adolescents but as of now, I want to work with adults too. They are many mentally ill individuals I have seen that have behavioral problems. This is the career path I want to focus on, and I believe I will excel as an Applied Behavior Analyst.

Probability Discounting in College Students’ Willingness to Isolate During COVID-19: Implications for Behavior Analysis and Public Health. Psychological Record, 72(4), 713–725. https://doi.org/10.1007/s40732-022-00527-9 This article was about college students willing to self-isolate during the pandemic. The implications of behavior analysis were to ensure that the students understood what to do during the crisis. They worried about not being able to see their loved ones or friends. A lot of rules had to be followed, for example, social distancing, being isolated for 14 days (about 2 weeks) or more if they caught covid 19. This study had 3 different experiments. The participants in the study would not participate if others did not because they were highly afraid. They self-isolated for over 2 months from the results of experiment 2. Students then transitioned to online classes due to the virus continuing to spread. The limitation of this study was that the behavioral scientist had little time to educate public health to the college students due to the wide spread of covid. Next time they would want to be prepared so that more people would participate in the study instead of panicking. They also did not educate college students enough about wearing masks. Whether it is an ABA or teacher, the importance of knowing what to do during a pandemic is much needed so that the students can prepare themselves for the worst if anything happens.

Behavior Analysis should be taught in all courses that require any involvement with kids or adults. Some teachers did not want to learn anything about behavioral analysis because they felt as if it is the analyst/therapist job to deescalate the situation with a troubled person. Behavior Analysis is an important course that helps you learn about certain behaviors that could occur in a classroom. In this study, most participants completed the course dealing with behavioral analysis and enjoyed it. A limitation in this study was that they did not have enough participants to keep the course moving. Behavior Modification, 47(1), 154–184. https://doi.org/10.1177/01454455221106127 The purpose of this article was how behavioral therapists coached parents on following the treatment plans they provided for them on tele-health. The reason they had to communicate through webcams, laptops, and cellphones etc., was because of the pandemic. This was something new for most parents because they preferred the in-home sessions instead. The organizations provided internet for free because most families could not afford it. The therapists wanted to ensure that the parents did not have any mishaps. It was important for the parents to

5 follow each step of the treatment plan. Some parents had kids that were ADHD and Autistic. Results show that the therapists delivered excellent treatment plans that helped the parents control their troubled child. The therapist's behavior was also assessed in this study to see if it was a difference from them being at the parents' home offering treatment plans instead of in their own home. There was not much of a momentous change. Most therapists preferred being at the parent home because some of them could not reinforce their child to behave without using the technique the therapist taught them. This is why I want to do in home sessions because I feel as if the child would listen to the therapist more and the parent would get a much better understanding if they ever encountered a bad behavioral situation. Studies shown that they were few behavioral analysts as women centuries ago. The researchers believed it was because of sexism. They believed that women were viewed to not deal with behavioral situations. Men were behavioral analysts. Women seemed too sensitive to withhold a job as a BA. I believe women would do an excellent job being an analyst because dealing with certain behavioral challenges they may experience with their client, that motherly instinct would kick in and they would be able to deescalate the situation. In the 21 st century, women have shown plenty of leadership skills and communication skills that would ensure that the job would be fulfilled. The researchers also stated that women spend more time with their family than men and that caused a limitation in behavior analysis. A lot of information that is biased needs to be addressed because racism and discrimination also plays a factor of how women does not want to work in the field

6 with helping troubled behavior people. As a woman I am happy that this is a field I want to specialize in and hopefully it will keep expanding soon. Slowiak, J. M. (2021). BA is especially important in that field because it helps people who make poor decisions pertaining to their health improve by giving them a treatment plan that will make their lives better. Regarding sports and fitness, behavioral analysis can help the individual produce a plan that would help them improve their performance when they become injured/hurt. Most athletes become depressed when they are hurt and cannot participate with the team. A behavioral analyst can suggest ideas to the coach so that they can encourage their player to stay focused and remain positive through this difficult time. This research is expanding throughout the years because it is very much needed for all sports etc. This will also help me out as a ABA because I could have a client who plays sport that may seem discouraged and I could implement a plan that would have them performing better when they go out to play. Conclusion Behavior Analysis is very important in today world. I chose this topic because it will help me advanced in my career as an Applied Behavioral Analyst. I love helping kids/adults who have experienced behavioral changes in their lives due to certain situations. Learning more about behavioral analysis will help me advance in this field. I mostly want to work with adolescents and adults because my heart reaches out to them because from reading the blogs about those traumatic events I know they are suffering and need some type of help. The parent/guardian may need some assistance.
