Educational psychology is going to be helpful in my future career goal of becoming a school psychologist. Many of the studies that are described in this book with be valuable tools that I will use on a regular basis, such as behavioral learning theory. Behavioral learning theory shows that there is a link between the learning environment and the behavior a child exhibits (O’Donnell, Reeve, & Smith, 2012). When a teacher is having challenges in the classroom with kids acting out I could start observing the class and give her tips on how to improve classroom behavior through positive reinforcement, for example. She might be having issues because she is only responding to negative behavior with a punishment. By observing I would be able to show her the positive things each of the children are responding to. Then she would be able to focus more on rewarding positive behaviors rather than punishing negative behaviors. Stephen Scott O'Donnell, A. M., Reeve, J., & Smith, J. K.
