Research Question Data Collection Technique Why this tool? Justify its use in your study. How does it match with what you are attempting to find and to measure? What impact does implementing a teacher training program on inclusive education strategies have on the attitudes and behaviors of early childhood educators towards inclusion? Quantitative : Surveys  Pre- and post-training surveys are quantitative techniques that involve administering a survey questionnaire to participants before and after they have completed the teacher training program. The surveys can include Likert-scale items or multiple-choice questions to measure specific dimensions, such as attitudes towards inclusion, knowledge of inclusive strategies, and self-reported changes in behaviors. By collecting data at two different time points, the technique enables the comparison of participants' attitudes and behaviors before and after the training program, thus assessing the impact of the program. This quantitative technique provides numerical data that can be analyzed statistically, allowing for measurement of changes and generalization of findings to a larger population of early childhood educators. It provides a standardized approach to capture the impact of the training program on attitudes and behaviors. Qualitative: Interviews A focus group is a qualitative technique that involves gathering a small group of participants to engage in a guided discussion on a specific topic. Conduct focus group sessions with early childhood educators who have participated in the teacher training program. The discussions can explore their attitudes, beliefs, experiences, and perceptions related to inclusive education before and after the training program. This technique allows for rich,
interactive conversations among participants, enabling the exploration of diverse perspectives, shared experiences, and the impact of the training program on their attitudes and behaviors. The use of focus groups aligns well with the research question as it allows for in- depth understanding of the experiences and changes in attitudes and behaviors of educators towards inclusion. Justification for the use of these techniques: The use of focus groups as a qualitative technique allows for in-depth exploration and understanding of the participants' experiences and perspectives. “The use of focus groups with several individuals who can contribute to your understanding of your area of focus. One way to think of focus groups is as a group interview where you are trying to “collect shared understanding from several individuals as well as to get views from specific people” (Creswell, 2012, p. 218). Focus groups are a particularly useful technique when the interaction among individuals will lead to a shared understanding of the questions being posed by the teacher researcher” (Mills, 2018). It facilitates the identification of important themes and insights into the impact of the teacher training program on attitudes and behaviors towards inclusion. Focus groups provide a platform for interactive discussions, allowing participants to build upon each other's responses and share diverse viewpoints. Pre- and post-training surveys as a quantitative technique offer a standardized approach to collect data from a larger sample of participants. By measuring changes in attitudes and behaviors quantitatively, this technique provides numerical data that can be analyzed statistically, enabling the comparison of responses before and after the training program. It allows for the measurement of the impact of the program and the generalization of findings to a larger population of early childhood educators. References Mills, G. E. (2018).
