2 Child Psychology What I Learned All three videos gave me some new knowledge about how babies develop and acquire language during neurological exams for neonates. The first video described the most critical period of language development and demonstrated that hearing a specific language impacts babies' limited ability to distinguish sounds (CrashCourse, 2014). It was quite revealing that when the babies spend much more time in a given language setting, they gradually lose their ability to understand the language. The second video provided a detailed picture of the born newborn's neurological and motor functions, which clearly indicated that it is necessary to monitor its behaviour, tone, and reflexes (misosoup666, 2007). This comprehensive analysis proves to be a beneficial tool for medical professionals, allowing them to identify typical patterns and potential abnormalities early on. Finally, the third video discussed the newborn neurological exam in great detail ( Pediatric Neurologic Examination Videos & Descriptions: Newborn > Normal , n.d.). It debated such things as the cranial nerves and also primitive reflexes. Taken together, these videos teach me about the various complicated factors that interconnect with each other and also affect the growth of a baby in early life. Why I Find It Interesting I find the study interesting because it demonstrates the heightened flexibility of a brain during the early stages when it learns to speak. At birth, infants have the potential to learn any language, but as they become proficient in a particular language, their ability to learn other languages is lost. This highlights the complexity of the cognitive development. Neurological evaluations of babies are very intriguing in that they evaluate a plethora of systems simultaneously and also depict their interdependence at an early stage of life. Knowing how the different tones and reflexes are tested allows us to gain more knowledge on the expected growth of babies during the early detection of problems. Methodological Innovation Language development research is the use of an alternative not commonly used in studying languages, such as Thompson's own language, which is a new approach to doing things. Using a language that does not include these sounds in the syllables, researchers have found the determinant of development when this feature disappears in English-speaking babies. A method applied an infant description to train the turning of heads when sound changed because they knew a reward (toys) was coming. However, this technique served as a very convenient instrument to evaluate the young ones' abilities to distinguish sounds and knowledge regarding language acquisition across many generations. There is a different approach to the neurological examination films since the tests are so very comprehensive. Different poses, traction and recoil tests, as well as reflex checks, provide a thorough neurological assessment. This systematic approach makes it easier for doctors to detect any issues with infants' motor functions immediately and allows them to help the infant when necessary. A relevant Textbook Quote can be found in El-Dib et al. (2023), who state that "Neonatal neurological examination is a critical component of pediatric assessments, providing insights into the developing nervous system. Comprehensive evaluations, including assessments of tone, reflexes, and cranial nerves, aid in early detection of potential issues, guiding healthcare professionals in providing appropriate care for newborns." In essence, the videos made us aware of many things about babies' language and also neurological exams. Scientists and healthcare practitioners should be mindful that infants can modify how they develop their language, and neurological tests give them a vast amount of information regarding their brains. There are many
3 methodological improvements in the research on language acquisition, and there are adequate neurological surveys that allow us to know more about the development of infants.
