Discuss one best practice, based on your research of the theory and disorder, that you would share with the mezzo or macro system for individuals with this disorder. One best practice for improving the mezzo and macro systems for clients with ODD is early intervention (birth to age 3). It can provide clients with the skills they need to be supported in different stages of psychosocial development. Erickson’s Stages 1. Basic Trust and Mistrust (infancy, 1-2 years) 2. Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt (early childhood, 2–4 years). Initiative vs. Guilt (preschool age, 4–5 years). 3. Industry vs. Inferiority (school age, 5–12 years). 4. Identity vs. Role Confusion (adolescence, 13–19 years). 5. Intimacy vs. Isolation (early and emerging adulthood, 20–40 years). 6. Generativity vs. Stagnation (adulthood, 40–65 years). 7. Ego Integrity vs. Despair (maturity, 65+) (Marree, 2020) behavior starts here. It is when children do not pass this stage-ability to control themselves. As well as parents that are overly critical, overprotective, or inconsistent. If this stage is not complete it moves to the next stage. The Regional Intervention Program (RIP) is a parent-implemented, professionally-supported program for young children and their families who are experiencing challenging behaviors. RIP has been serving families with young children since 1969. This unique, internationally- recognized program guides parents in learning the skills to work directly with their own children while they receive training and support from experienced RIP families (DMHSAS, 2023).
