The 5 things that this teacher did to help connect with the child and support her play were: a.) Joined child at their physical level b.) Used materials in a similar manner c.) Talked with the child about what they were doing and thinking d.) Asking questions to become more involved e.) She used her body language to show involvement and interact completely with the student. 2. Write about how each strategy helps the child develop socially, emotionally, and/or cognitively. a.) Getting on a child’s level can help them by providing them with our full undivided attention. By practicing this we help children develop cognitively and socially. b.) Using the materials a child uses in a similar manner helps provide the child with their cognitive development. This can lead to helping a child learn how to practice new things and lead to confidence. c.) Talking with a child about what they are doing in an activity can help them develop socially. A child will learn to interact socially with others and express thoughts and ideas with peers. d.) When asking a student open-ended questions to become more involved in their activity helps the child develop socially, cognitively, and emotionally. The child can learn to use their critical thinking in other situations as well. e.) Using body language with children can help the child develop emotionally and socially. They will learn that we are trying to understand their feelings and incorporate them into the activity as well as project interest in what they have to say.
