Trauma is all around us. Each and every person in the world has been affected by trauma, whether it is directly or indirectly. Trauma affects people in different ways, even when the person experienced the same event as another, the results are not the same. Although there are several ways to define trauma, it is best defined as an emotional response to a terrible event such as an accident, sexual assault ,natural disaster, war, physical assault, etc. which ignite unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, physical symptoms, behavioral issues, educational and learning issues, and more ( Trauma , n.d.-c). Therefore, when an individual experiences trauma, those experiences and adverse reactions do move into the community and affect others as well. In order to best address trauma and its adverse effects, it is important for community to partner together and help those that have been directly and indirectly affected by trauma. Trauma affects individuals and communities differently based on the intensity, location, and socioeconomic statuses; this is common with anything. It has been stated that trauma is a growing health concern with increasing risks to health and life, but that Trauma Informed Care is a response that is challenging but proven to be one of the greatest approaches towards supporting healing (Mahon, 2022).
