2 Adverse Childhood Experiences My ACE score is 3 out of 10. The one aspect that caused the outcome of the score is due to the sexual assault that I experienced at the hands of my mentally ill uncle. Mentally, I was distraught by the harrowing experience of being sexually molested by a mentally ill uncle. Socially, it also impacted my interaction with other family members. The development stage for Erikson that has been affected by the ACE test is the play age period: initiative vs. guilt. For instance, the caregiver stimulates, supports, and guides the child’s individual initiatives and interests (Kenrick et al., 2019). Many cognitive problems start to manifest during the adulthood stage in the form of anxiety, and depression, and are often the explicit outcome of childhood trauma that has not been treated (Burke, 2014). The sixth stage of Erikson’s psychosocial development is intimacy vs. isolation. It happens to young adults aged 18-35 years. Adults have to negotiate their individual identities as they try to discover intimate relationships (Kenrick et al., 2019). Males are more likely to method the world from a distinctive standpoint, while females will prospective base their sense of understanding on the value of their influences or sense of Leninism with others Childhood is a key moment for brain growth and this growth is evidenced during the early years of life to respond and behave later on. Brain growth relies on ecological factors like prenatal care, nutrition and parenting during the childhood stage (Burke, 2014). Comprehending and accepting our past experiences is key to overcoming the malaises that emerge in adulthood. The problem lined with overcoming something like childhood trauma in adulthood lies in our capacity to discern differently.
