Evidence based Approaches To promote health Adolescent Population
Motivation Enhancement Therapy Motivation that strengthens core values in conjunction with ongoing debate addressing the risks connected with excessive use of marijuana (Walther et al., 2016) Interventions of a brief length designed to motivate Concise recommendations with a basis in medicine
Cognitive Behavior therapy Young adults might be motivated to improve individual regulation and mental coping skills that stimulate positive activities through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The behavioral treatments center on halting compulsive use of cannabis and praising successful attempts to quit the habit (Guven et al., 2017). In cognitive restructuring, inaccurate expectations are adjusted, maladaptive ideas about the effects of cannabis are reframed, and reasons to remain sober are strengthened.

Pharmacotherapy Medication is used to treat the underlying causes of addiction and alleviate the associated psychological and physiological symptoms(Nielsen et al., 2019). However, there is currently no medication available to treat cannabis addiction that has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Proposal for health education Social Resistance Skills Teaching specific skills for resisting peer and media pressures Teaching to recognize situations where they are likely to experience peer pressure(Griffin & Botvin, 2010) Teaching what to say in the most effective way possible Increasing an adolescent's awareness of the social influences that support marijuana abuse Increasing an adolescent's awareness of the counterarguments used by advertisers who advocate for marijuana use
Normative Education Modifying Misconceptions About Marijuana's High Prevalence via Content and Activities Reduce assumptions about marijuana's social acceptability by informing people about the drug's true prevalence(Griffin & Botvin, 2010). Evidence can be provided by either national survey data or community/local data. Focus on data from large-scale research that reveal widespread hostility toward marijuana and a significant level of concern about the potential consequences of using it.
