2 Group Therapy Demonstrated Group Therapy Techniques This video presents a group process therapy session for addiction recovery and illustrates numerous group therapy strategies. These techniques are essential in creating a secure space where all parties involved can relate, motivate themselves, and help others toward recovery. Active listening and linking responses to others' shares are two of the significant processes reflected in the video. The emphasis is placed on the therapist being fully attentive in order to understand each member's input, linking their utterances with what has been spoken by other people. This shows understanding, respect, and acceptance among members of the group. What the therapist did well A noteworthy technique shown in the session entails eliciting participation through open-ended questions. Asking open-ended questions stimulates members' free expression, allowing for the in-depth examination of their inner selves ( American Psychiatric Association, 2013) . These techniques make participants communicate with each other and actively participate during a discussion session without any resistance. Also, the therapist successfully applied reflective listening to recognize and verify Member 2's feelings. The therapist's reflection on those emotions that underscored Member 2's story made Member 2 feel validated and recognized. Emphatically, this approach invites more disclosures and promotes a stronger therapeutic alliance with the group members. This also strengthens how effective these techniques are, given that the therapist can be quite good at quickly summarizing the main ideas. 3 The therapeutic interaction would have been improved if Member 3’s dishonesty had been discussed in an alternative manner. This conflict was, however a bit brutal in its outlook, which perhaps could have triggered defensiveness and prevented people from being frank. Perhaps a different method that combined the softer confrontation and empathic understanding could have been better. The therapist could also engage in a private conversation with one of the members (Member 3) that would provide him or her with insight into why one is acting dishonestly and how best to approach this behavior rather than just addressing it directly. This understanding and empathetic approach seeks to allow Member 3 to speak freely without being threatened or being a judge's target. By recognizing Member 3's perspective as well as inner feelings, they can softly redirect to the difficult behavior. The technique keeps an eye on the behavior of Member 3 but gives him or her an opportunity to express his or her concerns. Additionally, it promotes an environment of collaboration instead of confrontation towards Member 3 and creates awareness for Member 3 to be open-minded and accept responsibility for his/her own actions during the psychotherapeutic process. The use of empathy towards addressing sensitive issues within the group further strengthens the therapeutic link and promotes a more positive outcome. It aligns with the basic aspects of developing an amiable and receptive platform that allows people to express themselves freely as they embark on the recovery journey. Insights on patience and empowerment The demonstration of patience in the session showed an important part of successful group-therapy facilitation. Through this silent provision, the therapist demonstrated the importance of listening, thus demonstrating a deep understanding of the significance of silence in the therapeutic process. By refusing to immediately fill these silences, it was implicitly communicating great confidence in the agency skills of the participants to manage their problems themselves. The act of patience sent the message that every member possesses the authority and ability to direct their recuperation process. Additionally, these breaks in conversations are periods for deep self-reflection, leading individuals to know themselves better. Such types of songs help people dig much deeper into their feelings and give them a real chance to explore themselves without being forced. The therapist's willingness to hold space through these moments indicates this fundamental respect for every member's own pace and procedure of healing. The therapist engaged in unspoken intervals that allowed people to think freely and express their feelings. The patience, in this instance, helps to build trust between the therapist and group members as well as make people involved in the healing of their own free will. Managing disruptions and encouraging participation It is important to use a strategic and empathetic approach when dealing with a disruptive group member to preserve the therapeutic environment. However, one can encounter problems during group therapy, such as keeping attention of all members in check and resolving interpersonal contradictions between them. It may be challenging at times to ensure that all members remain active during meetings when there is such a wide range of individualities or requirements ( Yalom & Leszcz, 2020) . Additionally, expert facilitating skills are necessary to handle potential disagreements among the members and create an atmosphere of trust and security for everybody. However, patience and consideration are crucial for overcoming these challenges and making the most out of group therapies. Patience enables the group to go through several developmental stages at its own pace with consideration in mind and fostering understanding to enable a sensitive resolution of issues. The group continues to be a safe and positive place where people can get emotional support, learn new ideas, and heal by navigating these challenges carefully. Conclusion
