All interest groups share a desire to affect government policy to benefit themselves or their causes. Their goal could be a policy that exclusively benefits group members or one segment of society like government subsidies for farmers) or a policy that advances a broader public purpose (improving air quality). They attempt to achieve their goals by lobbying that is, by attempting to bring pressure to bear on policy makers to gain policy outcomes in their favor. Also, interest groups are very strong and bring a lot to the table and seek a lot of attention from the government. And I feel this plays a huge role in our communities because the government or a candidate can’t win elections without the right vote and voters, and interest groups can influence a lot of government policy and the reaction of people and the government. Formally, a lobbyist is someone who represents the interest organization before government, is usually compensated for doing so, and is required to register with the government in which he or she lobbies, whether state or federal. The lobbyist’s primary goal is usually to influence policy. Most interest organizations engage in lobbying activity to achieve their objectives. As you might expect, the interest hires a lobbyist, employs one internally, or has a member volunteer to lobby on its behalf. For present purposes, we might restrict our definition to the relatively broad one in the lobbying. In a nutshell the power of interest groups is formidable, not only that the government need funds for re-election or election and the lobbyist ands interest groups work together, it’s important that government carry this groups together.
