Most students retook the POLI 1010 Pre-Assessment Retest as their Final Examination during Week 15. This alternative POLI 1010 Final Examination is designed so that students who opted not to retest with the POLI 1010 Pre-Assessment are walking away from this course with basic civic self-awareness in the spirit of this course’s commitment to the General Education Social Sciences and Political Science degree program learning outcomes. Ed./Social Sciences SLO-04: THEORY, Student should be able to communicate the values and processes used to formulate theories of individual and social behavior Political Science Program Strategic Learning Outcomes -POLI SLO-01: Students will be able to differentiate between various Political Science research designs and construct research questions, theories, and hypotheses. -POLI SLO-02: Students will be able to distinguish between various political and economic systems and evaluate the merits of each Instructions: Tasks & Criteria for Success Responses for both Parts I and II should be completed on ONE Microsoft Word Document and uploaded either as a Microsoft Word Document or PDF file format to the ‘Alternate POLI 1010 Final Exam’ dropbox on the e-Learn course site under the ‘Assessment’ tab by no later than 11:59PM on Tuesday, May 2. *SEE: following page for specific instructions for each part of the exam.
POLI 1010 FINAL EXAMINATION_ALTERNATE VERSION INSTRUCTIONS for Parts I and II: Part I (Maximum of 50 points) Write a 5-paragraph summary describing the community you identify as “home”, detailing the main socio-economic, political, and cultural problems your home community currently faces. Speculate on possible solutions for the problems you identify. Your 5-paragraph summary must be written from a third- person academic narrative perspective, include an Intro and Conclusion, and points will be assigned according by the following criteria: -Third-person Narrative Perspective (Max 10 points) -Organization/Paragraph Format/Intro/Conclusion (Max 10 points) -Grammar (Max 10 points) -Statement of Purpose (Max 10 points) -Quality of Argument (Max 10 points) Part II (Maximum of 50 points/5 points for each) Answer for each of the following fields, first listing your zip code : -Who is your Mayor (or County Commissioner if you are from a rural area): -Who is your District Attorney? -Who is your City Council person (or County Council member if you are from a rural area): -Who is your Police Commissioner (or County Sheriff if you are from a rural area): -Who is your US Representative in the House of Representatives? -Who is your State Representative in your State Legislature? -Who is your local School Superintendent? -Who is your Governor? -Who are your two US Senators from your State? -Who is your State Senator?
