Abstract
International relations are affected in profound ways by the global climate change phenomenon. This essay explores how climate change reshapes global politics, posing a critical question: Does it promote cooperation or encourage conflict? However, through analysis of the impact of climate change on resources, migration, economics, and geopolitical dynamics, this discussion shows that when it comes to climate change, on the one hand, it serves as a force for international cooperation; on the other hand, it could also prove to be a factor leading to conflict.

Introduction
Of the major ills confronting us today, climate change is the greatest scourge of this century. It affects our environment and is even felt in the fundamental structure of world politics (Koubi, 2019). The situation's urgency calls for a unified global response, yet the question remains: Will climate change turn nations to cooperation or conflict?
Climate Changes Influence on Global Politics: Cooperation or Conflict?
Resource Scarcity and Competition
The scarcity of resources is one of the biggest effects that climate change has on global politics. However, this scarcity also allows nations to cooperate in managing resources sustainably and sharing technology. As changing climatic conditions make water, food, and arable land more scarce than ever (Smith, 2020), conflicts over these resources become more likely.
Migration and Humanitarian Crises
Climate-related disasters have aggravated migration and humanitarian crises. Such circumstances often create friction between nations, with climate refugees provoking political tensions (Adams, 2019). On the other hand, they also provide a nexus for international cooperation in dealing with refugee crises and emergency humanitarian aid (UNHCR, 2021).
Economic and geopolitical changes
From an economic perspective, climate change can hamstring the national purse strings and impact international trade. Countries able to adjust or with resources less vulnerable to climate change might gain new power, yielding geopolitical rivalry. However, this also stimulates nations to seek sustainable economic models and green technology jointly (OECD, 2022).

Environmental Policies and Alliances
The Paris Agreement and other international agreements also demonstrate the feasibility of cooperation against climate change. These alliances structure diplomacy and show that climate change can be a unifying force on the international stage.
Conclusion
There is no question that climate change affects global politics. It can either promote cooperation or provoke combat. Although the threats of resource scarcity and economic impacts can provoke competition or tension between countries, the international nature presents us with an unprecedented opportunity to work together as nations to develop innovative policies and coordinated plans. Ultimately, the direction taken is up to nations' willingness, amid this global crisis, to choose cooperation over competition.
